How do I connect a Facebook Page?
From the Connected Pages menu click Connect Facebook (+ Pages). You'll be redirected to the official Meta login:
- Log in with the personal account that administers the Page
- Select the Pages you want to manage with GeniReply (you can select all of them)
- Grant the required permissions:
pages_manage_metadata, pages_read_engagement, pages_messaging
- On return you'll see the Pages listed with a "Connected" status
⚠️ GeniReply does not store your Facebook password. Authentication is official OAuth: you can revoke permissions at any time from Meta Business settings.
How do I connect an Instagram Business account?
Instagram requires the account to be of Business or Creator type (not Personal) and linked to a Facebook Page. Procedure:
- From the Connected Pages menu click Connect Instagram Business
- Log in to the Instagram account (official IG Business Login)
- Authorize the permissions:
instagram_business_basic, instagram_business_manage_comments, instagram_business_manage_messages
If you see an "Account not eligible" error, first convert the profile to Business from the Instagram app → Settings → Account → Switch to a professional account.
Why does the webhook only respond to me (admin) and not to followers?
The GeniReply Meta app is currently in Development mode. In this phase the webhooks and messaging APIs are limited: they only respond to accounts that are admins or testers of the Meta app.
To enable real follower traffic you need to complete the Meta App Review: we're working on the submission pack (screencast, privacy policy, use-case). Estimated turnaround: 2–4 weeks after submission.
💡 In the meantime you can test the platform using your admin account or by adding colleagues as testers in Meta Developer Console → Roles.
Is the displayed follower count real-time?
The follower count is synced from the Meta Graph API at the moment of initial connection. In production the data is refreshed every 6 hours via a scheduled job.
To force an immediate refresh, click Sync now next to the Page name (if available in your version).
